Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has joined the rest of the world in mourning the demise of former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Joho issued the below statement on Saturday, August 18, shortly after Annan's death was broadcasted across the world.
"Fare thee well, Kofi Annan
I am saddened to hear of the passing of the 7th UN Secretary-General, Nobel Peace Laureate, Dr. Kofi Annan today in Geneva Switzerland.
Not only did he lead a personally accomplished life that straddled all spheres from academia to diplomacy, but he also was a fine standard and example for Global moral leadership.
As a Kenyan, I am eternally grateful for his role in bringing back our country from the brink in 2008 after the disputed election.
I wish to join the rest of the world in prayers for his family and friends and wish them God's comfort at this difficult time. His was a life well lived.
Hassan Ali Joho"
