In a tweet on Monday, Mr Ogolla sought to know who had shortlisted the candidates, and who was going to conduct the interviews.

He argued that those two questions were fundamental to the integrity of the process of finding Ezra Chiloba's replacement.

"IEBC SHOULD stop playing games with the appointment process of the new CEO. Who shortlisted candidates? And who is conducting the interviews? These questions run deep into the integrity of the process of replacement of Chiloba. New CEO should not be battling perception crises," read Ogolla's tweet.

IEBC has been without a CEO since the unceremonious ouster of Chiloba over procurement issues.

The embattled Chiloba came under fire in the 2017 elections as opposition politicians accused him of working in cahoots with government officials to scupper a free and fair election.

Mr Chiloba, who stayed put as opposition supporters took to the streets calling for his ouster, has maintained his innocence saying that he is being used as a pawn in a political game of chess.
