It was the second meeting for the two leaders since March 9th handshake between Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.

At first, Waiguru led a team of governors to Raila's office in early April to discuss devolution agenda ahead of Devolution Conference in Kakamega.

Spokesman Dennis Onyango said the two leaders agreed to bury their traditional differences which emanated in 2016 during NYS scandal.

"Raila Odinga and the Governor of Kirinyaga County Ms Anne Waiguru held a meeting this afternoon and agreed to put aside differences that arose from the loss of funds at the National Youth Service during the first Jubilee regime.

"Ms. Waiguru was the Cabinet Secretary in the ministry when the scandal erupted in the first Jubilee regime. After a meeting at Hon Odinga’s Capitol Hill offices, the two leaders announced that they had agreed to “let by-gones be by-gones” and leave the matter of the NYS scandal in the hands of investigators.

"Ms Waiguru said her case against Mr Odinga is now settled in the spirit of reconciliation that the nation has embarked on. The two leaders also reviewed the status of devolution in the country and agreed to exchange views frequently on how to address the challenges," wrote Mr Onyango.

Waiguru, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, had filed a defamation suit against Raila over the scandal that saw the country lose up to Sh700 million to rogue suppliers.

Lately, Raila Odinga, who is said to be keen in succeeding Uhuru, has been holding closed door meetings with Mt Kenya leaders, thus raising suspicions about his bid.

Despite his high powered delegations, Raila has however remained tight lipped on the possibility of running again after four unsuccessful attempts.
