A man linked to the killing of two people during a robbery incident was on Monday charged afresh following the arrest of another suspect.
Simon Sigei was charged together with Simon Rotich who was arrested by the police for committing the crime on February 12 and 13, 2019, at Boror village, Rongai Sub-County in Nakuru.
The two were accused of robbing and killing Peter Bore and his daughter Judy Chepkorir on the said dates.
State lawyer Jacinta Kibiriu told the court that the suspects were armed with machetes, rungus and hammers during the robbery incident.
“The accused persons violently robbed Peter Bore of his HP laptop, mobile phone, identity card and money all valued at Sh68,000 and in the process caused the death of Bore. They attacked and robbed Judy Chepkorir, Bore’s daughter of her laptop, gas cylinder and mobile phone valued at Sh72,500 and killed her too,” said Kibiriu as quoted by the Standard.
The prosecution told Principal Magistrate Faith Munyi that Sigei was found with the stolen items at the time of his arrest.
The two accused however denied the robbery with violence charges and Sigei denied another charge of defilement.
They also applied to be released on bail, an application the prosecution asked the court to reject saying if released, they would threaten witnesses.
The court ordered the two to be detained until July 7 when it will rule on the bail application.
