Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama has fired warning shots to county employees engaging in corruption.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Nyagarama said he will not condone corruption in his government.
"I have been reading in newspapers that I have failed to end corruption in the county. People should know I am not the one stealing public funds but, the people who were hired to work in my government. I am not going to allow some few individuals to continue tainting my name by embezzling public funds," he said.
Nyagarama said corruption is an enemy to the development of Nyamira and there is a need for county employees to shun corruption.
"Any county employee who will be found engaging in corruption should carry his or her own cross. The law is very clear that theft is punishable by the law. My government is committed to delivering and not supporting selfish workers to steal," he added.
The ODM governor assured that his government is doing everything possible to ensure the striking health workers resume work.
Nyagarama faulted critics who have taken advantage of the ongoing health workers' strike to spread propaganda in the region.
"I have not failed my constituents. I am ready to work with everyone to take Nyamira county to the next level. My rivals should stop misleading the public that I have stolen the county money for my personal use," he said.
