Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly have come out gun blazing against Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter following his recent utterances that were targeted at Deputy President William Ruto.
The controversial MP was last week quoted saying he was praying for DP Ruto not to be president as that will lead to other Kenyan tribes hating the Kalenjin community.
But addressing a media briefing at the County Assembly buildings in Eldoret on Friday, the Uasin Gishu MCAs termed Keter's sentiments as uncalled for and disrespectful to the DP.
“As leaders from this county, we condemn Keter’s utterances with strongest terms possible and we urge him to apologize to the deputy president and the Kalenjin nation at large,” said the Assembly's leader of majority Josphat Lowoi who read the statement on behalf of the over 20 Ward Representatives.
“Keter is not the spokesman of Kalenjin people and any statement he makes should be treated with the contempt it deserves. We only have one kingpin and spokesman who is William Ruto,” he added.
The Ward reps further demanded an apology from the controversial MP failure to which they threatened to ensure he does not step a foot in the county.
Keter has been a regular visitor in Eldoret town and recently when the Court of Appeal upheld his August 8 win, he addressed locals in the towns CBD where he hit out at corrupt individuals in government and vowed to continue exposing and fighting them.
