Central Bank of Kenya Govenor Patrick Njoroge said a gazette notice has been issued over the same. Since the announcement was made, I have had some of the ridiculous arguments from Kenyans.

The announced made Kenyans jump into animated talks on how the move will apparently corner some elements who have billions stashed in ware houses or under their beds.

To imagine that a thief good enough to steal billions can hide them in warehouses just shows how simplistic Kenyans treat serious matters. Only fools would steal so much money and keep them hidden somewhere.

And to make it worse, do so in Kenyan shilling denominations. Thieves have their money in dollars. They also keep their money in offshore accounts.

So, to imagine that Uhuru's move is a brainer that will deal the corrupt a blow is just another juvenile and clueless way of looking at a serious issue.

It is more tragic that even those considered to be serious brains in our society like Mutahi Ngunyi walked this path of shallow thinking. It saddened me to see the likes of Ngunyi peddling the pedestrian thinking.

"Instead of arresting thieves, Uhuru has outwitted them. By changing our currency, the guy who withdrew Ksh4 Billion from a Westlands bank in cash has 120 days to spend it or bank it," Ngunyi tweeted.

This hawk-ish thing by even Kenya's considered best brains is what proves to us that even those believed to be smart are still suffering from village thinking and approach to serious matters.
