(Kennedy Mong'are Okong'o was the first Nyamira Senator and the National Liberal Party leader)
A lot of political heat is sweltering in Ukambani with political alignments and realignments taking shape.
This has now opened political wounds.
Indications of the formation of new alliances spearheaded by Governor Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Governor Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and the self-styled saviour for Kenyans Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua are fueling a political debacle in Ukambani.
The three are challenging the status quo of one Wiper’s leader Kalonzo Musyoka's style of leadership since he took over from the then Kamba supremo the late Mzee Mulu Mutisya.
Mutisya, best described as a Kanu diehard who was full of wisdom advanced the social, political and economic dynamics for his people back then.
Though Kalonzo has been in the political realms for quite a long time, his impact hasn’t been felt as such.
A little due diligence supposes that Kalonzo – whose name in local dialect means “small voice” – should consider changing the name to “Kilonzi” which means a “big voice”.
When I announced my intent to run for the presidency in the last general elections, Kalonzo was in panic mode.
What followed was a string of political attacks from him in his campaign trail Nyamira and Kisii counties although I was vindicated from all the things he said.
Fast forward to date, the Wiper party boss should read the writing on the wall and gets his acts together before it is too late.
Otherwise, the Ukambani trio who have a proven track record could easily dethrone him.
