In the tweet, the examinations body said that the timetable was not authentic.

Knec clarified that there would be no invigilators, no scores to be given to the pupils and that the tests would be administered by class teachers.

All pupils would proceed to the next level in spite of their scores.

"Public should be notified that the timetable circulating in social media on Grade 3 monitoring is fake. Under the exercise: 1. There’s no supervisor/invigilator2. No timetable3. Is administered by class teachers 4. No individual scores 6. All Grade 3 kids to join Grade 4, " the tweet read.

The Grade 3 testing is part of the Competence Based Curriculum that the Ministry of Education has been rolling out.

Education cabinet secretary Prof George Magoha said that Grade 3 testing was an assessment not an examination.

In the new curriculum, ranking of schools will be abolished and more focus will be put on the individual abilities of students and pupils.

It is a marked departure from the 8-4-4 system that Kenyans have known for decades.

CBC faced tremendous resistance from the embattled Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) boss Wilson Sossion.
