Chaos engulfed the County Hall as Members of County Assembly opposed to Speaker Beatrice Elachi stormed the assembly demanding her ouster.
Speaking to members of the press as the chaos ensued, the Nairobi County Assembly speaker hit out at governing Jubilee Party secretary general Raphael Tuju wondering why he had not intervened to prevent an escalation of the situation.
"Why is that Raphael Tuju is oursecretary general yet allows such to happen?" she said.
According to the embattled speaker, Raphael Tuju had promised to deal with the situation but had done nothing.
She warned that the escalation of the situation at County Hall would result to deaths if not controlled as she vowed to stay put in spite of the pressure.
Media reports indicate that she enjoys near unanimous support from the minority MCAs and it is the governing JUbilee Party MCAs who want her ousted.
A court reinstated her as the the speaker on Wednesday, a reinstatement that has not sat well with a section of members of the county assembly who insist that she must go.
Those who want her out contend that she is high-handed and does not involve the membership of the assembly in critical decisions. Elachi has strongly rejeceted the accusations levelled against her.
