Deputy President William Ruto's allies should explain their change of heart towards the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) process, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has said.
After weeks of being perceived to be against the BBI process, the group on Tuesday declared its support for the ongoing regional BBI forums, vowing to be part of the remaining editions.
Ngunjiri later in the day said that the group is throwing in the towel, even as he stated that they are welcome to join the BBI bandwagon.
“We want to thank Tangatanga MPs for agreeing to join BBI forums. They even look excited about it. I look forward to them joining us in Mombasa on Saturday," he told the Star.
However, he pointed out that he wants them to explain reasons behind their sudden change of heart, given that they have always been opposed to the BBI.
The youthful MP stated that the group must make Kenyans understand what suddenly made them reconsider its position on the BBI push.
“I especially want to hear them explain to us what had stopped them from joining us in this journey before and what has changed now,” he added.
In a press conference in Nairobi on Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen said that they will change the BBI process into a people-based process.
