We are used to brushing our teeth whether we wake up early or late every morning. But are we sure we brush our teeth properly?

Here are five toothbrushing mistakes we should avoid:

1. Using a toothbrush for too long

Actually, one should not use a toothbrush for more than three months.

Sometimes we keep our toothbrushes for more than three months and this is not recommended. Do not wait until the bristles start to wear out.

2. Brushing for a very short period of time

While it is recommended that we brush for at least three minutes, some of us are used to brushing for less than a minute maybe because of time.

Brush long enough to remove all dirt in your mouth.

3. Keeping your toothbrush in the bathroom

The bathroom is not the right place to keep your toothbrush. For the sake of oral hygiene, keep your toothbrush elsewhere cleaner than the bathroom.

4. You don't brush your tongue

Brushing your tongue is a must to get rid of that bad odour in your mouth.

Take time to clean your tongue and remove any substances that might be embedded in it.

5. Your brushing is rough

Brushing roughly much might cause bruises on your gums or tongue. You should, therefore, be gentle while doing this.
