Residents of Borabu village in Bogusero ward, Mosocho in Kisii County are mourning the death of a 60-year-old man who hanged himself after a disagreeing with his wife over food.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening.
Confirming the incident, Bogusero assistant chief Simon Mbwayo said the deceased Thomas Moriango had given orders to his wife, Catherine Nyanchera not to give their son food but, the wife gave the orders deaf ears.
"Moriango was angered after Nyanchera defied his orders not to give their son food. The son had failed in the recently released KCPE exams. The deceased chased her from the house before he hanged himself using a mosquito net at the sitting room," he said.
The administrator said the deceased lifeless body was recovered by his elder brother who had gone to the house to reconcile them.
He regretted that cases of suicide are at the peak in the region.
"I am appealing to locals not to take their own lives whenever they are faced with difficulties. Suicide should not be the last option," he noted.
The chief noted that the deceased body was moved to Nyangena private hospital morgue awaiting burial.
