A section of politicians who have joined 'Tanga Tanga' pushing for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid has been asked to stop dragging ODM Party leader Raila Odinga into the ongoing Jubilee party wrangles.
Former Kitutu Chache South MP hopeful Samuel Omwando dismissed claims that Raila is the one responsible for the Jubilee fallout.
"Raila has nothing to do with the Jubilee Party wrangles. Tanga Tanga members should either accept the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta or consider keeping mum because the historic handshake has brought about unity among Kenyans," said Omwando on Tuesday in Geteri, Kisii County.
The vocal politician defended Raila saying he is not opportunistic as some politicians in Jubilee have described him.
Omwando who doubles up as Kisii County Orange Democratic (ODM) Party chairman said Raila has not benefited from the handshake as an individual.
"Kenyans have benefited more from the handshake, unlike Raila. Tang Tanga members are panicking for nothing because they know their master (DP Ruto) has limited chances to clinch the presidency in 2022," stated Omwando.
He maintained that Raila will be strong politically because he made a bold step to shake hands with the head of state after divisive polls in 2017.
