Deputy President William Ruto has called on youths to stop waiting for the government to create jobs for them.

Ruto while speaking on Friday at Kisii University where he presided over the 6th graduation ceremony urged youths to create their own jobs for the purpose of boosting the country's economy. 

"Graduands graduating today and those who are graduates in deep villages should not wait for the government to create jobs for them. Venture into self employment to boost the country's economy for a prosperous society," he noted.

He warned youths against engaging in crime on grounds they have lacked jobs. 

"I am appealing to youths to walk confidently into the future with a mind of creating own jobs by venturing into the agricultural sector. Those who will join gang groups to terrorize residents will be dealt with according to the law," said Ruto.

Ruto who is eyeing Presidency in 2022 once his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second and last term insisted that elected leaders should prioritize development. 

He also challenged youths to apply for national and county governments tenders.
