A directive by the National Assembly speaker Hon Justine Muturi to institute investigations into allegations of bribery in the just discarded sugar report has sent jitters to Wajir Women rep Hon Fatuma Gedi and her close circles.

According to a source which sought anonymity, if genuine investigations are undertaken then the members of the committee will find themselves in trouble given the fact that they actually received bribes.

Even as this unfolds, the Wajir Woman Rep Gedi has consistently refuted claims by sections of the media that house committee members were compromised to trash the sugar probe report on Thursday last week.

During an interview by a local media house on Saturday, Hon Gedi while firmly describing herself as a lady of “impeccable manners,'" said what all other rational MPs including herself was only mobilizing their colleagues to discard the report.

According to her, the sugar report was shoddy and had erroneously implicated some Cabinet secretaries who completely had nothing to do with the importation of contraband sugar into the country.

The legislators last week trashed down the report on contraband sugar probe for a second time amid widespread claims that bribery took centre stage.
