A survivor in the Wednesday morning accident that claimed nine lives in Emali has narrated how last minute prayers saved his life.
Richard Mulei, 28, says that if it were not for prayers , he would be among those who perished in the dawn accident.
In an interview with journalists at Kilome hospital, Mulei said that the 'holy spirit' directed him to pray right from the onset of his journey.
He told journalists that he boarded the ill-fated bus at Nairobi's River Road at 8.30 am on Tuesday.
Mulei said that he prayed 3 times before the bus left Nairobi and even called his wife to ask her to pray for him.
He added that he kept saying the Lord's prayer throughout the journey to the point the accident occurred.
"It is the Holy Spirit that saved me, I would be among those who perished if I had not prayed," he said.
Mulei said that passengers in the bus were dead asleep when the accident occurred.
The accident involving a bus from Car-Bus company occurred at Civicon area on Wednesday morning.
The bus collided with a lorry before bursting into flames killing nine people and injuring 20 others.
Makueni County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim says investigations into the accident is underway.
