After months of political fireworks, Deputy President William Ruto was on Tuesday hosted by outspoken Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho in presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The three leaders were ushering in visiting Uganda President Yoweri Museveni who is in a two days official tour to the Kenyan Coast. He landed at Moi International Airport.
And Mr Joho, who has never hesitated to launch series of scathing attack on Ruto, was pictured hosting the two leaders in his office before leaving for the airport.
"It is my privilege and that of County 001 to host Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. I joined President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta in welcoming H.E @KagutaMuseveni at Moi International Airport, Mombasa," tweeted Mr Joho.
State House Digital Communication Director Dennis Itumbi, a close confidant of the DP, also tagged Mr Joho in jus tweet. Mr Itumbi is closely working with Ruto and has since moved to Harambee Annex office.
"Rais @KagutaMuseveni karibu Mombasa, Kenya.@WilliamsRuto @HassanAliJoho," said Itumbi. (Welcome President Kaguta Museveni to Mombasa, Kenya).
Recently at Busia, Joho hit at Ruto, accusing him of mega corruption scandals. He also insisted that he's under instructions from ODM leader Raila Odinga to ensure that Ruto's 2022 ambitions are completely thwarted.
But in previous encounters, Ruto has often slammed Joho as 'unlearned governor who has failed to transform Mombasa'. The two leaders have intensified campaigns in the coastal region ahead of 2022.
The two leaders were at one time together in ODM and served in Cabinet before Ruto quiting in 2011. Ruto was then a minister while Joho served as an assistant minister.
