Led by Bonchari MP John Oyioka, the leaders said Governor James Ongwae's government has done everything to improve the state of the hospital.

"I wish to dismiss the claims that Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital is in a bad state. Let us give Governor Ongwae credit because his government has done a lot to improve the state of the hospital. Those spreading propaganda should stop wasting money to pay a journalist to air fake news on television," he said.

The lawmaker reiterated that political losers should give humble time to leaders who are in office to serve the electorates before 2022.

Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi said their political rivals are fighting them by using the media to tarnish the name of the biggest hospital in the region.

"Opponents should look for something constructive to do because paying journalist to report false will not enable them to win elective posts in 2022. Members of the public should ignore the false allegations being spread on media that the hospital is in a bad state," he said.

According to Maangi, the county government has stocked more drugs at the facility which are being given to patients for free.

"There are enough drugs at the facility and residents seeking medication at the facility should be given the drugs for free," he said.
