A philanthropist is a person who is very generous.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

Most Kenyan politicians are only known to be generous during the electioneering period. Such characters will be seen dishing out goodies and cash to people in a bid to win or retain their elective positions.

However, there is a crop of politicians who I would refer to as 'the people's choice.' These are politicians who stand with the common mwananchi in all situations. Such politicians never shy away from expressing their generosity towards the common mwananchi.

Below is a list of the greatest philanthropic politicians Kenya has ever had.

1. Mike Sonko

He is the current Governor of Nairobi County. In case elections were held today, he would definitely win the post of the most philanthropic politician in Kenya. Do I really need to remind you of his philanthropic acts? Well, let me begin with his recent act where he donated foodstuffs and other materials to people in Turkana and Baringo when they were dying of hunger.

He has on numerous occasions assisted needy families through his outfit, Sonko rescue team. From providing clean water, free health checkups to people, paying school fees, to creating employment opportunities for most youths. All in all, Kenyans will remember him for adopting baby Satrin Osinya who had a bullet lodged in his head when terrorists opened fire on worshippers during a church service in the coastal region.

May God bless you Mr Gorvernor.

2. Jaguar

He is the Starehe member of parliament. He has on several occasions shown his love for humanity. From donating cash in harambees, donating foodstuff and clothing to the needy in slums, to donating wheelchairs to the disabled. Arent these acts of love for humankind? He is a young politician who has outclassed many politicians who only show up to their people whenever they need votes.

The self-proclaimed hustler and deputy president is one philanthropic leader that Kenyans will live to remember. He attends harambees almost every week, where he donates millions of shillings. He has also on several occasions paid school fees for needy children across the country.
