On Thursday, Dr Ruto was forced to cancel his trip to Murang'a that was scheduled on Saturday over 'weather' but it has since emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta chipped in and stopped the gathering.

And allies of Uhuru from Mt Kenya who believe that he's being undermined by a section of Mt Kenya MPs, have kick started a process of removing Ruto's allies from key committees in parliament.

"The positions the leaders hold are very integral in realising the President's dream of actualising the Big Four but they are busy campaigning for their master in 2022," said Nduati Ngugi, Gatanga MP.

"They should be replaced with members who will drive the President's agenda."

Those who risk losing key positions include indecisive Irungu Kang'ata, who is the Senate Majority Deputy Whip, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah who sits in the influential Budget Committee and Nyeri Woman Representative Wanjiku Chege.

Kigumo MP Ruth Mwaniki accused the leaders of undermining Uhuru, adding that 'yet they clinged on Uhuru's coast to get elected'.

"Party leadership has to be aligned to a certain policy for there to be order. Things are disorderly since some leaders are behaving as if there is no leadership," Ruth Mwaniki.

"President must crack the whip and order for the removal of stiff-necked leaders without fear since majority are behind him."She added,

But Mrs Chege has since dismissed the plot, arguing that only her voters can scare her. She said that the leaders are behaving as if they are Uhuru's personal assistants.

"We won't be cowed by threats and propaganda by members purporting to be President Kenyatta's personal secretaries."
