An elected Governor from Gusii region has rooted forthe passage of Gender Bill.
Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi appealed to Gusii elected MPs irrespective of their political affiliations to back the two-thirds Gender Bill.
"Gusii MPs should be at the front line pushing for the passage of gender Bill at the National Assembly. Women should be allowed to take up leadership roles the same way as men," he noted.
He warned MPs against skipping the voting saying they should not be sacred being at the front line championing for the passage of the Bill which seeks to have more women at the National Assembly and Senate.
According to Maangi, women are human beings and should not be criticized.
"Let us stop calling our women 'slay queens', 'flower girls'. MPs must respect the rule of law by ensuring the Gender Bill sail through," he noted.
Maangi who has declared interest to succeed his boss Governor James Ongwae in 2022 confirmed that he is not going to look back in his ambition to vie for Kisii County gubernatorial seat adding that aspirants will get a run for their money.
