It premiered on Citizen TV.

According to the Wildlife Direct CEO and producer of the series Dr Paula Kahumbu, the new series is aimed at bringing wildlife conservation into the homes and classrooms of every individual African society, with the ultimate goal of moving people to action on conservation.

"Across the continent of Africa, a new generation of conservationists are taking hold. Fighting grave battles, breaking new ground and risking everything to preserve what they hold most dear, the land of their ancestors and the animals they have lived closely with for generations. Wildlife Warriors provides perspective on conservation from Africa in her own eyes," she notes.

The new series is fully funded by the U.S. Government, through USAID, in partnership with U.S. Department of the Interior, Wild Lives Foundation, and National Geographic.

According to Dr Kahumbu," the series provides an African perspective on conservation through the stories of Africa’s own conservation heroes, front line soldiers, and cutting edge scientists."

In season one, 13 Kenyans who have been at the heart of environmental conservation will be featured as the world celebrates conservationist heroes and Kenya's iconic landscape.

Social institutions have been encouraged to take the lead in environmental conservation started by the late Noble Peace Prize winner, Wangari Mathai.

Wildlife Direct was launched in 2014 by Kenya's First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and is focused on transforming society through conservation.
