However, ahead of that by-election, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the most dominant party in the region has fired warning shots at the future Senator of the region.

Speaking during the funeral of Senator Oluoch at his Rongo home on Monday, Suba South MP John Mbadi, who is also the ODM national chairman, warned the future area Senator not to start fighting the party once he/she wins the coveted seat.

"I know we are going to have a by-election, and I ask the voters to be very careful with whom they will elect. Some of the aspirants will use the party (ODM) and immediately after that they start fighting the party," said the National Assembly Minority leader.

Mbadi's message may have been directed to former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno who rebelled against the party in the past.

However, Otieno is now seen as the front runner to clinch the seat owing to his vast experience in the region politics, and having amended fences with party leader Raila Odinga.
