Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has called on the Members of County Assembly to give priorities to legislation that will make sure women and youth groups are funded to start incoming generating projects.
Taking to his twitter account, the flamboyant city boss pointed out that he was in a meeting with women who wanted money to help fund their various projects.
“During a meeting with Dignity Women Self Help Group at City Hall, after the group sought financial assistance to start income generating projects. I urged Nairobi MCAs to prioritize legislation that will help women and youth groups get funds for income generating projects,” said Sonko.
This comes just a day after a fall out with the Nairobi County Women Rep Esther Passaris over unanswered calls.
The wealthy politician busted Passaris when she questioned him over slow project approvals and why he doesn’t answer her calls.
Sonko has so far been accused by a number of people. Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) came out calling for his arrest.
According to FIDA Executive Director Ms Teresa Omondi, Sonko was disrespectful towards Passaris. More so, his words were considered as "hate speech," which is punishable by the law of Kenya.
