Members of the Jubilee Party allied to Deputy President William Ruto have come up with a new women league, apparently in a bid to counter the Embrace women group.

Plans to assemble the group dubbed Inua Mama come to light only a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta lashed out at the group operating under the Tangatanga tag for disrespecting him.

The chief organizer is Kandara MP Alice Wahome who has not been in good terms with Uhuru since the Sunday rant and who on Tuesday named some of Inua Mama's leaders.

She said that the group has 48 elected members, and will be chaired by her and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, with Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa set to be in the technical committee.

She noted that the group will be going across the country engaging in fundraisers and empowering women, while at the same time promoting members in their respective areas.

Wahome said that the group will also be using its cross country engagements to endorse Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

The lawmaker noted that they have no plans of working with Embrace which is led by former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh and Homa Bay MP Gladys Wanga.

“During campaigns, we used to meet women groups while selling our manifesto to them. That is why we came up with the idea to have a political outfit where we shall economically empower the women of this country and also partner with Kewopa to nurture and motivate women to seek elective positions since the gender Bill that was aimed at bringing more women into leadership flopped,” she told the Nation on Tuesday.

This comes at a time when a section of Jubilee members opposed to Uhuru's links with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga have been observing Embrace as an extension of the Kieleweke faction.

Kieleweke is in full support of Uhuru-Raila union and has also declared war on Ruto's ambitions for the top post.
