Ndii has been under pressure to declare his interest for the top seat from residents in his home county and other regions on grounds he was a "leader and not politician" and, therefore, the next best alternative.

However, the economist who hails from Kiambu on Friday ruled out joining the race to the State House saying he holds no ambition of serving in the government.

"Government is not the be-all-end-all of human achievement. Government has never featured in my ambitions and I consider myself a self-actualized person," he tweeted.

But one of his followers could hear none of that and he pressed the NASA strategist to go for the presidency.

"David, you should indeed run for that office, have all the qualities of a leader," posted Mohamed Said.

In a quick rejoinder, Ndii said he doesn't have the financial muscle to mount a challenging campaign against prominent politicians who have already declared interest in the seat.

"I don’t have that kind of money," said the man who has vowed to flee the country if Deputy President William Ruto wins the 2022 election.

Responding to a tweep who asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to appoint him as a diplomat, Ndii said he was not interested.

"I am in my fifties, I work when I want. I have everything I need, play golf three or four times a week, why would I want a job?" posed the economist with a PhD from Oxford University.
