As calls for referendum continue to gain momentum countrywide, the discussion has aroused mixed reactions among Kenyans.
Ukambani leaders have equally joined the debate on whether the country should conduct a referendum at this point in time or not.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vehemently vowed to not support the constitutional amendment unlike NASA principal and ODM Chief Raila Odinga.
Speaking at an interview in a local television, on Wednesday, Kalonzo said a referendum is not an emergency for Kenyans.
However, in contrary to Kalonzo's expectations, most Wiper leaders from the Ukambani region have thrown their support to the constitutional amendment.
Matungulu MP Stephen Mule on Monday said the referendum will be a chance for Kenyans to save themselves from the heavy burden they are carrying.
Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene said the reduction of political positions will ensure no misuse of taxpayers money.
"We also need a ceremonial President so that he doesn't have the powers in a way that what he decides is final," Kamene said.
Kamene addressed the public in Mwala Sub County on Thursday.
Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo said there's need for a referendum as long as it won't derail devolution.
So far, only Muthama has come forward to back Kalonzo on his stand on the constitutional amendment.
