Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has said that he fully supports the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), arguing that it will benefit the people of Mt Kenya and the entire nation.
Speaking during a wedding ceremony at Nchuui Primary School on Saturday, Munya said that he is perturbed by the fact that critics of BBI have been very vocal when they are yet to see the contents of the report.
He asked them to join the course in a bid to unite Kenya for the sake of economic empowerment of the taxpayers.
The former Meru governor reminded the critics to be patient until the contents of the report are made public before they can reprimand the team that collected views from across the country in a bid to offer solutions to the current regime on the way forward after election results differences.
He said that elections have become one of the major problems in Kenya, adding that BBI will offer a solution towards the same if embraced.
“Whenever we have elections, economic activities are stalled because of fights. Jobs are lost and our economy suffers. Traders in Kisumu just want peace to go about their activities whether there is an election or there is none… Any Kenyan in Eldoret is only interested in going about his farming whether there is an election or not,” Munya said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
His support comes at a time when allies of the Deputy President William Ruto from the region have promised to shoot down the report.
The leaders claim that Kenyans problems are beyond the referendum.
They also opine that referendum is a tactic ODM leader Raila Odinga wants to use to restore himself politically
