Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi says he greatly remains indebted to Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni for agreeing to be his running mate.
Having failed to secure support from President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto, Mudavadi went on to launch his bid on UDF party.
While sourcing for a running mate, Mudavadi settled for Kioni, who hails from the larger Central Kenya.
However, Mudavadi, in his new book Soaring Above the Storms of Passion, says he was shocked to see bloggers claiming that he didn't vote for him.
“We would be shocked later to see some cheeky bloggers and journalists parody him and suggest that he did not vote for me,” he says.
Mudavadi also dismissed claims that he was backed by Mwai Kibaki. Kibaki's former aide Nick Wanjohi had been accused of funding Mudavadi.
“Throughout the campaigns, we did not have any input from him,” he writes.
The ANC leader would later emerge third after President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga in the polls.
Kioni contested for Ndaragwa seat in 2017 which he comfortably captured. Recently, he said Musalia Mudavadi will be president some day.
