The 2019/20 Kenya Premier League (KPL) season is set to kick off this weekend, with football fans in Kisumu poised to enjoy a KPL double-header on Saturday, August 31.
Local team Kisumu All Stars will take to the pitch against Soldiers Ulinzi Stars starting 2 pm at the Moi Stadium before KPL Champions Gor Mahia open their 2019/2020 season campaign against Tusker FC at 4:15 pm.
“We will face Ulinzi Stars on Saturday at 2 PM, before Gor Mahia play Tusker FC from 4:15 PM at the Moi Stadium,” confirmed Kisumu All Stars Team Manager (TM) Alfred Adu in an interview on Monday.
The 2019/2020 is the maiden season for All Stars in the league after being promoted from the second tier National Super League (NSL) last season.
The new season will kick off on Friday with a match featuring Kariobangi Sharks against Western Stima in Nairobi.
Apart from the Gor vs Tusker and Kisumu All Stars vs Ulinzi, other fixtures on Saturday are: Wazito vs Nzoia Sugar, Sony Sugar vs KCB, Mathare United vs Bandari FC and then Sofapaka vs Posta Rangers.
On Sunday, Kakamega Homeboyz will host AFC Leopards at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, while Chemelil Sugar will travel to square it out with Zoo Kericho at the Kericho Green Stadium.
