At one point, Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori became the face of the new wave of rebellion against ODM in the Coast region after the political deal between the party leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Together with Malindi lawmaker Aisha Jumwa and other 'rebels', Dori became Deputy President William Ruto's point man in the region that is seemingly planning to take a new political direction come the next general election.

Then, ODM cracked the whip.

Jumwa was expelled after the party's top organ recommended for her expulsion. However, Dori survived the whip. Consequently, he was given a  political lifeline. And he pledged his loyalty to ODM and its leader Raila Odinga, maybe, at least for now.

After that torturous journey that could have cost him a seat, the vocal lawmaker has surprisingly taken an uncharacteristically low political profile, avoiding to comment on all contentious political matters. Perhaps it is a political strategy to avoid antagonizing the party that has sponsored him to Parliament for two terms now.

Whatever happens next remains to be seen. But Dori, who has transformed from Saul to Paul is now playing his game close to his chest. And maybe, at the 'right time', he will become Saul again. For now, the outspoken MP is literally missing.
