Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama is no doubt one of the best politicians in Ukambani.
He is a man many people are eagerly waiting for his official comeback in politics after opting not to defend his political seat in 2017.
But now the question is, which position will he vie for in the coming 2022 election?
Many people believe that Muthama will succeed if he runs for Machakos senatorial seat. They feel that he has to accomplish his 2013 political agendas and restore people’s faith in him.
Also as a Wiper party loyal, running for county's top seat in 2022 will make it easy for their opponents in the coming election as there will be a division in the party.
For the sake of the party, he will have to focus on retaining his senatorial seat and help the party to win big in the county and also in the region at large.
The 2022 Machakos gubernatorial seat will be Wiper party’s top target in 2022 after losing it in 2017 to Dr Alfred Mutua, of Maendeleo Chap Chap.
In the last general elections, Muthama surprised many including his political party, Wiper for not contesting for any position.
This left the party with no option but to give Bonface Mutinda a direct Wiper senatorial ticket.
As to whether the former Kangundo MP will decide to vie for the senatorial or the more lucrative gubernatorial set is a matter of wait and see.
