Parents need to be committed to ensuring their children grow up into successful and responsible adults.

The way your children conduct themselves on the table is very crucial.

Here are five table manners you should teach your children:

1.Chewing food with mouth closed

It is disgusting to eat while your mouth is open.

Children need to be taught that they should close their mouths while chewing food.

Remind them on a daily basis until they learn.

2. Greet people before joining them to eat

Some children start eating even before they greet the people they have found on the table.

It is good to remind the children not to do that.

Greetings bring you closer to each other before you start eating.

It creates a friendly environment if there are strangers on the table.

3.  Setting the table properly before eating

Children must learn to set the table before they start eating.

A disorganised table can be embarrassing.

It is awkward to walk into the dining table only to find your child eating on a disorganised table.

4. How to use a fork and spoon

Most children do not know how to use a fork and spoon.

Teach the children how to use different cutlery.

They should also be reminded not to keep banging them on the table.

5. Say ‘Thank you’

Good children say thank you after eating.

Teach your children always to say thank you.

They should know that gratitude is part of good manners.

You can take action if they are not ready to say thank you after a meal is served.#MyLifestyle
