Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has hit back at a group of politicians who have been accusing him of misusing his powers in the reignited corruption purge.

The latter has been on the receiving end lately, as a faction of Jubilee party politicians accuses him of using the push to punish members of a specific community.

The leaders, largely allied to Deputy President William Ruto have termed the push a scheme to victimise the DP's Kalenjin community by scandalising projects in their areas.

But in retaliation, Haji on Wednesday released a list with a tribal classification of all the people he has charged for alleged involvement in graft.

Amazingly, the list shows that people of the Kalenjin community are just the third in the number of people whose corruption cases are pending in court.

Top of the list with a sample of 415 people are suspects hailing from Mt Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta's bedrock, 141 of whom have corruption cases being worked on by the courts.

Second, on the list are opposition leader Raila Odinga's tribesmen from Nyanza Kenya, 56 of whom have been implicated in graft.

Kalenjins come third with a tally of 46, as Haji seeks to make it clear that he is wrongfully accused and politically battered.
