Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has thrown a jab at ex-minister Rashid Echesa following his decision to hint supporting Musalia Mudavadi's presidential bid.
On his Twitter account, Khalwale liked Echesa to addition to drugs, arguing that his exit from power may have temporarily affected him.
“Political power, like cannabis sativa (bangi), is addictive & when suddenly withdrawn can have severe withdrawal effects. The abrupt firing of former C/S Rashid Echesa is the ONLY reason for his so called ditching of @WilliamsRuto. Classical attention seeking behavior!”said Boni Khalwale.
At a funeral in Mumias East on Saturday, Echesa vowed to support a Luhya candidate for presidency, an indication that he's since ditched Dr Ruto.
“People are taking advantage of Mr Mudavadi's politeness to undermine the Luhya community. But they need to understand that there are other leaders in Luhya land who can give direction. We are asking our elder brother, [Mr] Mudavadi to stamp his authority and command the community knowing that we are behind him,” said Echesa as quoted by the Nation.
“I am ready to do anything to ensure a Luhya ascends to power. But this can only be possible if [Mr] Mudavadi moves out of the comfort zone to get the support of other communities,” he added.
Although Echesa was recruited to cabinet by Ruto, he's yet to be told why he was sacked in February. His decision to support Mudavadi remains a shock.
