Eldoret based businessman and Reale Hospital proprietor Dr Erick Ruto is the new vice president of the of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KNCCI).
According to the Standard, in the Saturday's elections at the Bomas of Kenya, Dr Ruto trounced Gor Semelang’o and Fatma El Mawy to clinch the post.
Richard Ngatia was elected president of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Dr Ruto received 282 votes as Fatma came second with 146 votes while Semelang’o had 27 votes.
Through his Facebook page, Dr Ruto thanked those who campaigned for him and promised to work for them whether they voted for or against him.
"It has been a bruising task campaign across the 47 County chamber chapters, dedicating time and resources. As a business community, we finally won! My humble gratitude to my wife Lynn Ashley, my kids, the team Mashinani secretariat and chamber County directors for the greatest support and prayers," he said.
"We will work tirelessly to accommodate ease of doing business in the country across the country and protect the interest of our great businessmen and women," Dr Ruto added.
Entrepreneurs within Eldoret town and its environs are looking upon his leadership as he intends to fight for them a better enabling environment for business to thrive.
