A 28-year-old female teacher was on Thursday found dead in her house in Kenyenya.
Kenyenya police boss Isaac Thuranira confirmed the incident and said the deceased was a teacher at a local school.
He said locals told police that the deceased was last seen on December 25, 2018.
"The late was seen with her friends at a local food joint on December 25, 2018, but, went missing thereafter. Her house remained locked from inside something that forced neighbours to break the door on Thursday only to find her dead in her bed," he said.
The police boss said more details will be given once the probe is complete.
"We are investigating the circumstances which led to her death. Any member of the public with information can volunteer to police," he noted.
According to Thuranira, the deceased was living alone in the house.
"She was in the area waiting for schools to re-open so that she can resume work but, met her death before she will return to school" added Thuranira.
He said the deceased body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.
