The former Bomet Governor has lately taken a back seat in politics with his loyalty seemingly divided between Deputy President William Ruto and Mr Moi in the battle to dominate in Rift Valley.

And at Chebonei in Bomet on Saturday, the two leaders sat side by side in the company of Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat, former nominated Senator Zipporah Kitony and a host of local leaders.

"In the company of Hon. Isaac Rutto, Baringo Woman Rep. Gladwell Tungo and other leaders in Bomet to officially open the newly constructed Chebonei Girls High School Tuition Block and pool our resources together to build them a library.

"The expansion of key infrastructural capacities in our academic institutions is continuously easing congestion and thus providing an enabling environment for learning," Moi wrote.

On his part, Mr Ruto asked for unity among Kenyans, adding that bitter political rivalry could ruin the economy of the nation in the near future.

He said: "As a nation, we need to work together to foster peace and development. This is what our people want and not toxic politics. We must reevaluate ourselves for the better future."

Last December, Ruto hosted Deputy President William Ruto at Bomet and there was talks within the media that the former governor was to be rewarded by a cabinet post.

But before striking truce with Jubilee leadership in 2017, Mr Ruto, who is considered a senior leader in South Rift, worked closely with Mr Moi. Their latest meeting comes at the time DP Ruto is struggling to stamp authority in national politics.

Both Ruto and Moi have declared interest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta and Isaac Ruto could be tasked to make tough choices in the near future.
