This comes at a time when a rift is widening between the two regarding the anti-corruption war, with Ruto showing opposition to the reignited corruption purge.

Uhuru is on the other hand in full support of the same and has repeatedly vowed to support it to the end, with Okello now urging the DP to either support the same or resign.

Speaking on Sunday, while in the company of other 11 MPs allied to the opposition and Jubilee blocks, Okello said that they would impeach Ruto of he continues doing what the MP termed as frustrating Uhuru's leadership.

“If Ruto will not work with Uhuru (in fight against graft and unity), he should resign (from the government) or we will remove him. We will not allow people to destroy what the President is building," he was quoted by the Nation.

The MP spoke when himself and his colleagues attended a church service at the Halleluiya Gospel church in Banana, Kiambu county.

He also hit out at a section of Mt Kenya parliamentarians allied to the DP who have been echoing his claims that the corruption purge is targeted at victimizing the DP.

He urged the leaders to resign and give room for new leadership if they cannot help the President realize his goals.

“People (MPs) were elected in central Kenya (to support the President and his agenda) but they are not insulting him.

"Tell these MPs whose work is Tanga Tanga to quit so that the electorate can choose other leaders who will stand with the President," added the legislator.
