Naftali Kinuthia, the suspect in the murder of Moi University medical student Ivy Wangeci, says he does not regret committing the crime.
People Daily reported that Kinuthia remained unremorseful in his hospital bed despite his action shocking the country.
“Speaking from the hospital bed at MTRH where he has been admitted for treatment following serious injuries he sustained from irate members of the public, a remorseless Kinuthia said he did not regret his action,” the paper reported.
Details have also emerged that Kinuthia graduated from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
He then landed a job in Nairobi with a betting company.
Wangeci’s classmates at the Moi University School of Medicine described the suspect as a man suffering the bug of love.
He had reportedly been trying to win the petite girl’s heart in vain leading to dangerous obsession.
Eldoret East OCPD Lucy Kanani said police will grill the suspect to establish the true account of things as they piece together evidence to charge him.
“The suspect is receiving treatment at the MTRH and once he is stable, we will record a statement from before taking him to court to face the murder-related charge,” said Kanani.
