Rumours had it that Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portugal national will be retiring from international football after a shocking exit from the World Cup 2018 in Russia following their 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.
The two goals scored by Edinson Cavani knocked out Portugal.
However, the 33-year-old responded to these claims stating that he hasn’t decided on anything. The Real Madrid forward helped his national team reach into the round last-16 of the world cup 2018, but unfortunately, he couldn’t rescue his team from Uruguay who scored twice.
Both Portugal and Lionel Messi’s Argentina were knocked out from the round last-16. At 31-years-old, speculations had it also that Messi’s would retire from international football.
It should be noted that both Ronaldo and Messi would be 37 and 35 respectively when the next World Cup comes around. If they still would be in their national teams, they would be the top oldest players in the world cup history, a record currently being held by Egypt's goalkeeper Essam El Hadary.
Ronaldo netted a hat-trick in their opening game of the group against Spain to become the first oldest player to score a hat-trick in the world cup history.
His future still hangs in the air as his age becomes a demanding factor.
