Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has strongly condemned the move by MPs to have their salaries increased.
Speaking during a Sunday service at PCEA Ol’karia, Naivasha sub-county, Kihika said it was wrong for elected leaders to push for salary increment yet Kenyans have many needs to be met.
“It’s obscene for elected leaders to be asking for this hike in their salaries. We still have places in our country that have no passable roads. We still have our women who can’t access water and we’re here asking for a pay hike. It’s wrong and even unGodly,” said the senator.
The Senator made the sentiments while she addressed the congregation.
During the service, the Senator also helped a fundraiser for the development of the church.
The remarks comes as President Kenyatta vowed to shoot down a bill by the MPs to have their allowances among other goodies topped up from the public coffers.
