The National Super Alliance head of Secretariat Norman Magaya insists that the coalition is 'there to stay' despite claims from a section of ODM leaders that it 'died' during Raila Odinga's mock swearing-in last year.

On Monday, the coalition proposed a second nominee, Ms Jane Wangui of ODM for Nairobi deputy governor position, slightly two days after presentation of Rahab Ndambuki's name for consideration for the same post.

Magaya said: "I am able to read the mindsets of our principals. As far as am concerned, NASA is much alive and not about to die. Raila instructed me this morning to do another letter to Sonko which I did." https://www.nation.co.ke/news/politics/Nasa-sends-second-deputy-governor-pick-to-Sonko/1064-4934912-b1koll/index.html.

At a church event on Sunday in Embakasi South, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna denied claims that the party was involved in the proposal of Ms Ndambuki, adding that the coalition collapsed after the mock swearing-in ceremony.

But Magaya, a close confidant of Mr Odinga, insists that the coalition is still strong, adding that whoever doubts it's existence can check from Registrar of Political Parties offices.

"We did not forward any name for consideration for Nairobi deputy governor post simply because we do not want to be associated with the current mess," Sifuna said, adding that NASA had collapsed.

On Friday, Sonko postponed naming his deputy, a year after the dramatic resignation of Polycarp Igathe, arguing that he was just about to nominate someone but cancelled after receiving a proposal from the NASA coalition.

He said: "I was ready to nominate someone but I have received a name from NASA for consideration. For the spirit of handshake, I will do more consultations before we unveil the nominee."
