Operations are still at a standstill at the Kisumu International Airport (KIA) following a strike by workers affiliated to the Kenya Airports Workers Union (KAWU).
The strike that kicked off on Wednesday morning has inconvenienced passengers who went to the airport in the morning hoping to catch planes to various destinations.
By the time of going to press, only one Silverstone plane had arrived at the airport from Wilson Airport in Nairobi, with no plane having left KIA.
Apart from passengers, taxi drivers operating at the Kisumu International Airport have been hard hit by the strike.
A section of the operators reacted bitterly to the strike, saying it has negatively affected their work.
“The strike has caused our operations to stall. I had clients who were to travel from Nairobi this morning but due to the strike, they have not made it. There are no planes coming to Kisumu,” said Mrs Seline Ouko, a taxi operator.
“The only plane that has arrived is Silverstone from Wilson Airport. It normally comes with few passengers on board,” she added. Her sentiments were supported by her colleague Mr Enosh Jagero.
“There’s no work today. As taxi operators, we have nothing to do today. This strike has negatively affected our work,” he said.
