The three were reportedly working at a construction site in Nairobi's Karen area, before succumbing after taking a concoction believed to have been poisonous.

The party is now urging the nation to not read too much from the incident, insisting that investigators have since taken up the case and are probing the incident.

Through its Chairman Kelvin Lunani, the party on Sunday added that it is not hiding anything with regards to the same, and the case is better left in the hands of detectives.

"It is a serious matter where lives have been lost in the first place but police are investigating this matter and as such, there is no stone that will be left unturned as the truth has to be known,'' Lunani said in a press conference, reports the Standard.

He added that the building under construction was not solely a property of the former Deputy Prime Minister but was a co-ownership between him and another party.

In an initial press conference, the party secretary-general Barrack Muluka reported that only two people died in the incident that was reported on Saturday.

It said the incident happened after a worker who lamented of stomach pains brought several bottles of the liquid at the sight and drank it with his colleagues.

The survivors were rushed to several hospitals across the Nairobi from where they are recovering.

Mudavadi is currently away on a trip and is not expected back in the country for the next one week.
