The event will happen in Kisumu's Moi Stadium today (Sunday).

The former Prime Minister who doubles up as the club's patron is as well expected to join the team fans for its last match against 2008 champions Mathare United.

Confirming the same on Saturday, Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili added that the veteran leader will be part of the celebrations in the city the team considers its homeland.

“Tomorrow (Sunday) is a big day and I’m asking you to be there because Gor will be in town. The match against Mathare is guard of honour, a formality. Raila will come to join us in celebrating our champions,” he was quoted by the Capital Digital.

Raila skipped the club's 16th trophy presentation last year, and is expected to add to the anxiety of the fans and public in the opposition bedrock where he enjoys massive support.

Gor which sealed its win of the trophy in August has, however, been suffering lately, losing most of its matched to opponents, a problem that has partly been blamed on financial shortages.

Expected to present the trophy is the Kenya Premier League (KPL) sponsor, Sportpesa Chief Executive Officer Ronald Karauri.
