Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta impeached over increasing cases of corruption.
Khalwale, who is in Deputy President William Ruto's inner circle, asked Members of Parliament to bring charges against the Head of State over alleged loss of Sh21 billion meant for construction of two dams in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
Speaking during a rally on Saturday, the vocal politician said Uhuru should be held accountable over the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal since he is the country's chief executive officer (CEO).
"Uhuru Kenyatta is the chief executive officer of Kenya and as such he ought to be held responsible for the loss of billions in the construction of dams scandal," he said.
Addressing a bullfighting rally at Shiyunzu in Kakamega county, Khalwale further dismissed the renewed vigour to fight corruption claiming it was being used as a political tool to hunt down Ruto ahead of 2022 general election.
The former senator was expressing same sentiments as the DP who also on Saturday asked agencies mandated to fight graft to be honest as they investigate and prosecute individuals over corruption.
"To win the war on corruption, we must rely on factual information and stop politics from clouding it," Ruto said during a rally in Kaloleni, Kilifi County.
