Sharon Otieno had accompanied Oduor to meet Migori Governor Okoth Obado's Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo who was to equip them with information regarding an upcoming saga, apparently within the county government.

Sharon was a second year student pursuing a Degree in Medical Records at the Rongo University, reports the Nation.

The two found themselves in trouble after being tricked into a suspicious car outside Graca Hotel in Rongo town at around 7: 35 pm, after which their abductors robbed and assaulted them.

Oduor, however, escaped by jumping out of the speeding car at Nyangweso Market, along the Homa Bay-Kisumu Road, with his abductors' attempts to chase after him failing.

A good Samaritan took him to a nearby police station and was later transfered to the Homa Bay Police Station.

The reporter who covers the entire Homa Bay Region sustained serious arm, palm, back and knee injuries and is currently admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu, where he is recuperating.
