Residents of Birongo, Keumbu in Nyaribari Chache Constituency, Kisii County are living in fear after a body of a middle-aged man was found dumped in a ditch on Saturday.
Confirming the incident, the local chief Mr Ronald Kerongo said that the deceased had visible injuries all over his body.
The chief also noted that broken wooden blocks suspected to have been used to kill the man were recovered at the scene.
"Residents could not identify the man because he is not familiar to them. It seems he was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped in the ditch," said Kerongo.
The administrator appealed to residents to be calm as police officers launch investigations into the matter.
He assured the residents of tight security in the area, noting that there is no cause for alarm.
"Residents of Kerongo should not fear because security officers are doing everything possible to know the killers who dumped the body in the area to scare people," he added.
Mr Kerongo said police officers from Keumbu took the body of the deceased to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue where identification will be done.
